MBA Colleges in Kolkata Without CAT: JEMAT, MAT and the University Route
Eight Kolkata colleges are in our directory. Two, Amity Kolkata and the Army Institute of Management, list CAT as their only route. The other six take MAT, CMAT or XAT, and three (Calcutta Business School, IISWBM and Heritage) also name JEMAT, West Bengal’s state test run by MAKAUT. Fees run from ₹7.5 lakh to ₹15 lakh. The University of Calcutta isn’t in our directory, but it accepts CAT, MAT, XAT or JEMAT scores through its own offline application.

JEMAT: the state test
JEMAT is run by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) for MBA admission in West Bengal. For 2026 the online application opened on 10 May and closed, after an extension, on 1 June. Three Kolkata colleges in our directory name it: Calcutta Business School, IISWBM and Heritage Business School. It’s a spring-and-early-summer test, so for 2027 you’ll be looking at a May application window if the pattern repeats.
The University of Calcutta route
The University of Calcutta runs its own MBA admission and, as reported, accepts CAT, MAT, XAT or JEMAT scores. There was no online portal for it in 2026: you downloaded the form from the university’s website and submitted it in person or by post, and the last date was 19 June. It isn’t in our college directory, so check the university’s own notice for fees and seats before you plan around it.
What ‘without CAT’ looks like in practice
In Kolkata the national tests do most of the work. CMAT is accepted by six of the eight, and XAT and MAT by five each. The two CAT-only colleges are the exceptions: if Amity Kolkata or the Army Institute of Management is your target, no fallback test helps. XAT, which closes on 6 December, keeps Calcutta Business School, IISWBM, Globsyn, Praxis and IMI Kolkata open.
