50–60 Percentile in CAT 2026? These MBA Colleges Have the Lowest Fees

12 October 2026 · Directory data verified 4 September 2026 · Fees are total two-year programme fees excluding hostel

Quick answer

Of the colleges in our directory whose admitted band overlaps 50 to 60 percentile, the cheapest twelve charge between about ₹0.8 lakh and ₹1.8 lakh in total. Most are state universities, so you will often apply through CUET-PG, GCET, TANCET or UPTAC rather than CAT alone. The cheapest is not automatically the best: the fee-to-placement ratio ranges from about 1.4 to 9.

How to read this table

The band column is the percentile range a college has admitted at, not an official cut-off, and it overlaps 50 to 60 rather than sitting inside it. A college listed at 40 to 55 will usually take a 52 percentile; one listed at 60 to 75 may only take you at the top of your band. The last column matters as much as the fee: AMU Aligarh is “CAT only”, while most of the others also, or mainly, admit through another route.

Where the cheapest seats come from

Nine of the twelve are public universities or university departments in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Their fees are low largely because they are publicly funded, and their seats are governed by university or state counselling, including reservation rules. That is why a 52 percentile can be enough at one and not at another with a similar fee. If you want the broader picture, read all low-fee MBA colleges accepting CAT or compare cities in our Lucknow, Hyderabad and Chennai guides.

Cheap is not the same as good value

Look at the ratio column. FMS MSU Baroda pairs a ₹0.8 lakh fee with a 7.3 LPA average, a ratio of about 9. At the other end, DAIMSR in Nagpur costs ₹1.8 lakh against a 2.6 LPA average, a ratio near 1.4. Averages are self-reported and several colleges here show “n/a”, so treat the ratio as a screening tool and ask each college for its latest placement report. Our MBA ROI index explains the method.

What to do next

  1. Shortlist from the table by exam route, not fee alone. Drop colleges whose admission exam you will not sit.
  2. Keep a second exam open: NMAT registration is reported open to 25 October, and MAT and CMAT cover far more colleges.
  3. Check approval before you pay anything: how to verify AICTE status.
  4. Move up a band if you can: 60 to 70 percentile, or see the full 50 to 60 percentile list with placements.

Questions people ask

Which MBA colleges accept a 50 to 60 percentile in CAT with the lowest fees?

In our directory, the cheapest are two Gujarat institutes, B. K. School in Ahmedabad and FMS MSU Baroda, at about ₹0.8 lakh total, followed by AMU Aligarh, BBAU Lucknow and MLSU Udaipur at ₹1 to 1.2 lakh. Bands are the range each college has admitted at, not a guarantee.

Is a cheap MBA with a 50 percentile worth it?

It can be, if the placement figure holds up. Compare the average package to the total fee, as in the ratio column, and verify the college’s current placement report.

Do these colleges take CAT scores directly?

Some do, but several fill seats through a state or university route such as CUET-PG, GCET, TANCET or UPTAC. Check each college’s admission notice for the exam it actually uses.

Are fees on this page the full cost?

No. They are the total two-year programme fee excluding hostel, as listed in our directory. Hostel, exam fees and other charges come on top.
